A Few Tips About Pepper Spray

Posted on the January 30th, 2010 under ergonomic shoes by admin

Pepper spray will not kill anyone but it will stop an attacker by making their whole face burn! The irritation is so bad, that the eyes will swell up and shut, therefore making them temporarily blind! The pepper spray can make the skin and mucous membranes (nose & throat) so irritated that they will cough and choke. The irritation will last several minutes and give you time to get away.

It is unbelievable that such a simple product can help so much in moments as horrifying as this. But there are also 2 important limitations when using pepper spray, which you should keep in mind. First, pepper spray works best when sprayed right side up (just remember that your hairspray won’t work if you hold it upside down). Second, if there is too much wind it is not recommended for use, especially if the wind is blowing against you because you might get sprayed back! The best kind of pepper you can get is Pepper Foam (found under Mace on our website). Pepper Foam works best because it is so thick and sticky that it saturates the attacker’s face even in windy conditions. Pepper Foam, like most other pepper sprays, also comes with an identifying UV dye that can help identify an attacker and be used as evidence in the crime! There are other types of pepper spray available as well. You can choose the foam as mentioned previously, or you can choose from streams, gels, foggers and aerosols. Some pepper sprays also come combined with tear gas!

Pepper sprays come in many shapes and sizes. You can get pepper sprays in an injection molded holster with keychain, leatherette holsters with key chains, disguised as a lipstick, as a pen, a pager, a ring. It also comes in unique ergonomic forms such as the Guardian Angel pepper spray unit. There are even baton pepper sprays and pepper spray guns! Needless to say, there are many models to choose from.

The Humanscale FreedomTask Chair, What Amazing Ergonomic Office Design

Posted on the January 29th, 2010 under ergonomic shoes by admin

I recently purchased a Humanscale Freedom Chair and am amazed at how comfortably and how smoothly the ergonomic mechanisms work. Having heard of the countless design awards it has won, I had decided to try it myself. Undoubtably one of the best in it’s class, the Freedom Task Chair has many fans. Since it’s founding in 1982, Humanscale has made amazing progress in ergonomic design with many unique features and design elements.

The manual will walk the new owner through the correct adjustment and positioning of the different elements to the exact body type examples. Once positioned, the Freedom Chair works beautifully with no more need for manual adjustment. I am constantly having to adjust my old chair. My old chair is a traditional style leather executive model that cost me almost $600 and although it is soft, it is not built for the pressures of everyday tasks for long periods. The Humanscale chair is fitted to the users frame and adjusted with their body as they go through their everyday tasks and works beautifully, no need to keep tweaking the levers and knobs. This saves me alot of time.

The Humanscale Office Chair keeps the users level of sight constant when reclining or sitting in an upright position. Adjusting to the constantly changing positions, the chair adjusts to the needs of the spine in these different positions. My spine is not only comfortable but it is nice to keep my eye level constant when speaking with customers at the office. The chair also provides 1″ additional lumbar support when it is needed for extra back comfort ability. I love this chair and my back would agree that it has been the best business purchase I have ever made for my productivity.

The armrests move in tandem with the frame which eliminates the need to worry about uneven arm positioning. The arms are also attached to the backrest instead of the seat so the arms stay in the same spot as the body is in. When sitting in the chair it was hard not to notice how relaxed my arms seemed. I have had problems with carpal tunnel and am constantly going in and out of wrist braces. I could feel the tension released when my fingers relaxed, something I never felt when reclining in my standard office chair and was won over completely by Humanscale.

The Humanscale Freedom Chair can be enojyed with virtually no effort on your part once initially adjusted. Who has the time to be constantly changing and adjusting levers on their office chair? Time is money and I feel like the comfort ability and time I save will make me a much more productive worker. Thanks to the Humanscale Freedom Chair, I am feeling better about spending way too much time in my office chair in front of this computer.

Staying Fit After Forty

Posted on the January 28th, 2010 under ergonomic shoes by admin

Staying Fit After Forty Have you ever heard of “boomeritis?” It is actually a term that has been coined by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, referring to a growing number of sports related injuries among baby boomers. In fact, the problem is so extensive, that the AAOS has developed a web site, [http://www.boomer-it] is.org geared toward helping active baby boomers avoid and cope with injuries.

Of course, the AAOS is not in any way discouraging boomers from staying active and fit, on the contrary, the organization recognizes that the benefits of exercise far outweigh the risks of injury. But don’t forget, it’s a good idea to get your doctors approval before starting any exercise program. So once that’s done and you’re ready to roll, how do you avoid being sidelined by an injury?

Follow these five tips, and you’ll be well on your way:

1. Stay Balanced! Be sure to incorporate a good mix of stretching, flexibility exercises and cardiovascular activity. The more well rounded the exercise program, the less likely you are to sustain an injury.

2. Variety is the Spice of Life! Mix it up a little bit. Don’t do the same routine every day. Walk a few days a week, bike or go to the gym and use the treadmill. By doing this, you accomplish two things: You’re less likely to get bored with your routine and quit, and by varying more likely to avoid injuries stemming from overused muscles.

3. Stay Loose! Stretching seems to help keep injuries at bay. Tightness can spell disaster, and since muscle tissue elasticity decreases with age, older muscles are even more at risk.

4. Gear Up! Go for the bicycle helmet, make sure running shoes fit properly and by all means, wear the wrist, elbow and kneepads while skating or roller blading. Safety equipment can keep you out of the emergency room and into your routine.

5. Take Your Time! Don’t try to do too much at once. Limit yourself to increases of just 10% per week. For example if you’re running for 20 minutes one week, increase to just 22 minutes the next, and build from there. A rapid ramp up can be a real shock to your system.
